Kizingoni Beach - Kenya

Kizingoni Beach is a new destination that stretches across 24 acres of pristine beachfront, on the southern end of Lamu Island. It offers seclusion, yet the delights and supplies of Lamu and Shela are a twenty minute boat ride away. The local village of Kipungani is completely unspoilt. From there we receive fish, dhows and donkeys, in turn providing employment and funding for community initiatives.

Local events such a weddings and festivals are celebrated together. Seven houses are available for rental: Kizingoni House, Jahazi House and Kusini House,Wazi Dubu House, Kuni Jogoo House, Kazkazi House and Pepo House. Each house is simply, but beautifully furnished with 4-5 bedrooms, large living rooms, rooftop terraces and a freshwater pool. All bedrooms are ensuite, with private terraces.

The houses come with cook, steward, laundry and a boatcaptain. Boat moorings for your private boat are right out in front. The houses have been carefully positioned to allow privacy and stand on over an acre of land covered with established coconuts and some indigenous woodland.

Frangipani, jasmine and lime trees have been planted in abundance around the houses. From here you can visit historical Lamu Town, take picnics on remote beaches, look for dolphins or go fishing. There is plenty of clean water from shallow wells and plenty of wind and sun to run the windmills and solar panels that provide power and hot water.

Kiwayu Safari Village - Kenya

KIWAYU SAFARI VILLAGE Kiwayu lies on the northern Kenya mainland facing over an expansive bay south to Kiwayu Island. It is 35 air miles north of Lamu and 310 miles from Nairobi. Lamu can be reached by speed boat (1.50hr)or by air and Nairobi by Safari Link from Wilson airport – a 1hr 50 min flight.

Aircraft lands on our airstrip with a 5 minute transfer by 4-wheel drive vehicle across the dunes. In November Safari Link flies on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Kiwayu has adhered strictly to the local style: open “bandas” (cottages) consisting of a large double bed and main area, washing and showering facilities and 2 verandas.

Everything is built in the local Swahili style of palm thatch, woven palm matting and Swahili furnishings. Activities include snorkelling, water skiing, picnics on nearby shores, mangrove channel fishing and deep sea fishing as well as game walks over the dunes. Great attention is paid to our cuisine which has been labelled the best in East Africa. Italian-orientated it includes fresh pasta, fresh fish, lobster and crab and the best of Kenya’s fruit and vegetables flown in from Nairobi.

We have set up a Community and Conservation programme with Mkokoni, our local village, and have installed computers and solar lighting for the students. We are also anxious to develop the conservation of the wildlife and habitat including the Game Reserve and the Marine Reserve. We work in conjunction with the Kenya Wildlife Services. Kiwayu is closed after 15 April and re-opens on 1st August.

Kinondo Kwetu - Kenya

Kinondo Kwetu " home away from home". With room for no more than forty guests, you will always find your own private spot at Kinondo Kwetu. Which, needless to say, makes it a very special place for honeymooners. Like to read? Lie down on the beach with a book in the shade of a palm tree, or retire to the library or one of the living rooms.

Or gather your family and friends for drinks and a laugh on one of the terraces. Who knows, maybe you have come as a group to celebrate someone's birthday? Would you believe a Finnish sauna when you are only kilometres south of the equator? Yes, we have one. Every night towards sunset it is fired up. You can enjoy a massage and body treatment to the soothing sound of the Indian Ocean. And we will guide you to a "secret" serene spot on a cliff overlooking the sea where you can meditate and do your yoga.

Even the big pool is designed for tranquillity: not a hard rectangle but a giant three-leaf clover; swim the perimeter and you have covered a hundred metres. Does all this sound a bit slow-paced? Just wait, there are also lots of things to do for the more restless and active. Although Kinondo Kwetu is the ideal place for simply doing nothing at all, it offers exciting possibilities for all adventurers big and small. For starters, you have the Indian Ocean.

The vast East African reef is there for you to explore, be it scuba diving, snorkelling, or by boat. Try deep-sea fishing. Or learn kite boarding, an exhilarating and eco-friendly sport perfectly suited for the southern coast of Kenya. We have our own PADI centre, so if you are thinking of getting a diving certificate, do it at Kinondo Kwetu. Sailing enthusiast? Our small Kenyan outriggers will give you lots of fun.

Or come along on a cruise on one of our traditional dhows. We also arrange excursions along the coast to nearby islands and up a river looking for crocodiles. And if you want to see elephants, giraffes, buffalos, antelopes, and other African animals in the wild, Shimba Hills National Park is only a short drive away. A visit to Kinondo village and a daytrip into Mombasa will give you the spectrum of life in Kenya. We gladly drive you to both places. Or maybe golf is your thing.

No problem, there is an 18-hole course only 15 minutes away. As is also Ukunda airstrip, from which you can fly on safari to any of Kenya's classic national parks. Or … the possibilities for not sitting still are also endless. Kinondo Kwetu " home away from home" also manage the Kinondo Kwetu Medical Clinic, Kinondo Kwetu School and the Kinondo Kwetu School Sponsorship programme.

Jacaranda Hotels - Kenya

Jacaranda Hotels launched into the Kenyan hospitality industry in 1964 initially as a motel-The Pizza Garden which provided snacks and beverages for tourists on transit. The popularity of the establishment brought with it necessity for a bigger facility that would provide accommodation for the discerning patrons. The many Jacaranda trees on location provided a perfect name which today is synonymous. In 1973, a World Bank Conference was to be staged in Nairobi. The Jacaranda only had 40 rooms, which was hardly enough for all the expected guests and dignitaries.

The need for further expansion arose and two extra wings were built to house 80 more rooms. At the time, it was just after independence and there existed opportunities for growth hence the need for professionalism. Jacaranda Hotels has been managed by different hands among them Alliance Hotels, Quality Inn and Block

Hotels. Jacaranda hotel-Nairobi was Land mark hotel during the block hotels tenure. In October 2003, the management contract with Block hotels came to an end Jacaranda Hotels Kenya was then formed. It is now 8 years since Jacaranda hotels Kenya was formed. Our industry has been through many challenges but amid these challenges, we kept it together and are now ready to officially launch the new products

Heritage Hotels - Kenya

The Heritage Group is one of Africa’s most established and innovative ‘safari names’. Although the company has been in the business for over 20 years, its pioneering approach has helped to set standards for the entire industry.

While Heritage’s Intrepids camps (Mara and Samburu) have long been synonymous with Kenya’s best flying safaris, its Adventurers’ Club has become the continent’s most celebrated children’s club, while its flagship Voyager Beach Resort has become one of the most popular beach hotels in the Africa.

Heritage’s Kenyan portfolio comprises seven properties under three distinct brands, offering a unique chance for discerning repeat guests to ‘climb the brands’. The Voyager brand offers some of the most exciting, high-value ‘beach and bush’ holidays in Africa. After the endless watersports and family activities of Voyager Beach Resort, guests can soak up the wilder atmosphere of Tsavo National Park, home to the romantic Voyager Safari Camp.

The Mara is also home to Heritage’s most famous camp, Mara Intrepids, which is justly famous for its location, unrivalled game viewing, expert guiding, and newly refurbished luxurious riverside tents. Its sister camp, Samburu Intrepids, also just refurbished in 2011, offers similar standards of ‘bush luxury’ deep in Kenya’s northern deserts, home to rare antelope and large elephant herds.

Intrepids visitors can now combine their wilderness safari with a more modern adventure at the Great Rift Valley Lodge and Golf Resort – a beautiful lodge and leisure complex west of Nairobi, which boasts one of the most spectacular golf courses in the southern hemisphere. Guests climbing the Heritage brands will eventually find themselves in the luxurious surroundings of Mara Explorer, where the 10 secluded open-air tents, exotic furnishings and discreet staff have earned the camp accolades as the Mara’s most luxurious retreat. The camp’s sister, Kipungani Explorer, offers a secluded step back in time and a unique ecotourism experience on the mystical Arabian island of Lamu.

Finch Hattons Lodge - Kenya

If one name is synonymous with luxury in the African bush it must surely be that of Denys Finch Hatton. Befriended by Kings, immortalised by Hollywood, Finch Hatton`s courage and charm inspired a whole generation of safari guides - while his hot showers and fine wines became the hallmarks of the modern camping safari.

Today Finch Hatton`s name lives on in a remote corner of Tsavo, where his example has inspired what is arguably the most luxurious camp in Africa. Set on the shores of wildlife-rich volcanic springs, Finch Hattons offers a rare blend of old Africa and modern luxury against the majestic backdrop of Mount Kilimanjaro. Deluxe en suite tents and the finest cordon bleu cuisine provide the ultimate `bush luxury`, whilst the outside terraces offer dining with an orchestra of natures finest virtuosos.
