Retreat Safari Ltd. is a Tanzanian registered company with Tanzanian and Swiss shareholders operating two properties in Tanzania.

The Retreat Selous, located in Northern Selous, is a twelve-suite exquisite hideaway that offers complete seclusion in the heart of remote bush lands. The Selous Game Reserve is the largest protected wildlife sanctuary in Africa and is widely accredited as being the most pristine wilderness and one of the “secrets of Africa”.

The Hippo Point offers the ultimate exclusive private safari lodge experience. Situated 2km from the main house of The Retreat Selous, providing total seclusion and privacy, the two large Hippo Point suites are 160m² each and are located either side of a cooling swimming pool. The suites are on raised platforms and have their own sundeck and plunge pool. Guests at Hippo Point can feel like they are in their own personal safari paradise with the private bar, lounge and dining areas all serviced by a dedicated private cook and butler. A private guide with a superb 4x4 vehicle is responsible for exclusive activities of the clients at Hippo Point.

Elephants, lions, black rhinos, leopards, wild dogs, giraffes, hippos and crocodiles and more than 400 different birds can be seen among many other wildlife. Guests at The Retreat are invited to share a rare intact ecosystem of Africa which is perfectly untouched and can be explored in many different ways. 
Our passionate and experienced local and international guides are true “guides” into such tailor made experiences made either as daily excursions from the lodge on foot, boat or road in tracking untamed animals possible with a night in a fly camp or in our love nest.
