Les Paletuviers is a real secret gem of a property situated in a UNESCO
world heritage site of Sine Saloum in Senegal. Sine Saloum is a unique
mangrove-delta region scattered with islands, rivers and salt water sea
arms leading to the Atlantic Ocean. Les Paletuviers offers guests an
endless list of varied and unusual activities from experiencing the
intoxicating Senegalese drumming and dancing to swimming with dolphins
in the mangrove channels. The three properties within the Les
Paletuviers portfolio are; Toubacouta, a village of luxurious huts
spread out in a beautiful baobab park, The Beach, 5 huts in a piece of
blissful paradise by the ocean with a back to nature feel, and The
Island, a secret until 2012…
Les Paletuviers is a birdwatchers dream
with over 653 species of birds to be spotted. Guests can either go out
with a birding expert on a dedicated excursion or try their own luck on a
mountain bike ride to the neighbouring national park.
Les Paletuviers
also works very closely with the local villagers of Toubacouta who are
very enthusiastic about giving the guests a real insight into village
life. Guests can experience the absorbing culture, explore the mangrove
channels on canoe safaris or simply unwind and enjoy the spectacular
scenery. The three properties of Les Paletuviers make a perfect complete
itinerary and this, combined with the wealth of activities on offer and
the very accessible and reasonable flights into Gambia across the
border, makes Les Paletuviers a very easy sell.

Leopard Lodge - Zambia
This small family run luxurious lodge on the banks of the Kafue River
is totally secluded and distant from any other lodges, making it a
private and un-commercialised wildlife experience.
It is not uncommon to have elephants wandering through the camp or lions and leopards catching their prey in the lodge grounds.
The Kafue River is home to large pods of hippos and it is the source of life for the area, drawing animals to its banks. Game viewing by boat is therefore spectacular and enjoying a drink as the sunsets is a tranquil experience.
Fishing is excellent and it has become a lodge tradition for fisherman to attempt to catch all 5 different bream species as well as Pike, is similar to tiger fish, but smaller in size.
With a maximum of only 12 guests the focus is on personal service, flexibility and giving guests the opportunity to enjoy the diverse range of activities available, which includes game viewing from an open safari vehicle, on foot, by boat or by canoe; visiting a natural hot spring, fishing, or simply enjoying a sundowner at a view point above the lodge offering stunning views over the National Park.
Guests could also however remain in camp and see what animals pop-in.
Chalets are private, being individually sited, and all have river views. The African-Colonial décor is complimented by 100% percale cotton linen and Rhodesian Teak furniture, with beds that have been quoted as “the most comfortable in Africa”. Ceiling fans keep the rooms cool in the heat and nets keep mosquitoes off.
Breakfasts and lunches are enjoyed on the deck which extends over the river, whilst dinner is served around a fire. In the unusual case where weather calls for inside dining our restaurant is obliging which also portrays the African-Colonial theme of the lodge.
