Kizingoni Beach - Kenya
Kizingoni Beach is a new destination that stretches across 24 acres of
pristine beachfront, on the southern end of Lamu Island. It offers
seclusion, yet the delights and supplies of Lamu and Shela are a twenty
minute boat ride away. The local village of Kipungani is completely
unspoilt. From there we receive fish, dhows and donkeys, in turn
providing employment and funding for community initiatives.
Local events such a weddings and festivals are celebrated together. Seven houses are available for rental: Kizingoni House, Jahazi House and Kusini House,Wazi Dubu House, Kuni Jogoo House, Kazkazi House and Pepo House. Each house is simply, but beautifully furnished with 4-5 bedrooms, large living rooms, rooftop terraces and a freshwater pool. All bedrooms are ensuite, with private terraces.
The houses come with cook, steward, laundry and a boatcaptain. Boat moorings for your private boat are right out in front. The houses have been carefully positioned to allow privacy and stand on over an acre of land covered with established coconuts and some indigenous woodland.
Frangipani, jasmine and lime trees have been planted in abundance around the houses. From here you can visit historical Lamu Town, take picnics on remote beaches, look for dolphins or go fishing. There is plenty of clean water from shallow wells and plenty of wind and sun to run the windmills and solar panels that provide power and hot water.

Kiwayu Safari Village - Kenya
KIWAYU SAFARI VILLAGE Kiwayu lies on the northern Kenya mainland facing
over an expansive bay south to Kiwayu Island. It is 35 air miles north of
Lamu and 310 miles from Nairobi. Lamu can be reached by speed boat
(1.50hr)or by air and Nairobi by Safari Link from Wilson airport – a 1hr
50 min flight.
Aircraft lands on our airstrip with a 5 minute transfer by 4-wheel drive vehicle across the dunes. In November Safari Link flies on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Kiwayu has adhered strictly to the local style: open “bandas” (cottages) consisting of a large double bed and main area, washing and showering facilities and 2 verandas.
Everything is built in the local Swahili style of palm thatch, woven palm matting and Swahili furnishings. Activities include snorkelling, water skiing, picnics on nearby shores, mangrove channel fishing and deep sea fishing as well as game walks over the dunes. Great attention is paid to our cuisine which has been labelled the best in East Africa. Italian-orientated it includes fresh pasta, fresh fish, lobster and crab and the best of Kenya’s fruit and vegetables flown in from Nairobi.
We have set up a Community and Conservation programme with Mkokoni, our local village, and have installed computers and solar lighting for the students. We are also anxious to develop the conservation of the wildlife and habitat including the Game Reserve and the Marine Reserve. We work in conjunction with the Kenya Wildlife Services. Kiwayu is closed after 15 April and re-opens on 1st August.
