Gibb's Farm - Tanzania

Gibb's Farm is a working Farm located on the forested slopes of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. It comprises a warm and friendly community where the rhythm of Farm Life has calmed and restored the weary safari journeyer for over 40 years.

View of Gibbs Farm Gibb’s Farm hugs nearly a mile of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, part of a 3,200 square mile reserve. Ideally located, the Farm lies half way between Lake Manyara and the Ngorongoro Crater, near the village of Karatu. Set among formal English gardens, the Farmhouse and 20 ensuite cottages are the heart of a working farm. Built in 1929, the Farmhouse has hardly changed, retaining the charm of a well looked-after private house. Cozy living rooms and reading corners are just steps away from the dining room, bar and gift shop.

Fireplaces fill the Farmhouse with warmth and historical charm. Just outside, a sprawling verandah and floral garden invite sweeping views of the valley below the Farm. Organic Coffee is grown, processed and roasted on the Farm, and a vast 10-acre organic fruit and vegetable garden provides 90% of the ingredients needed for fresh, home-cooked meals. Gibb’s Farm provides a welcome stay on any safari, and a base from which to enjoy the many activities available in the foothills of the Ngorongoro Forest, The Ngorongoro Crater and Manyara National Park. Even if your stay is short, find time for a gentle walk or a tour of our gardens.

Funzi Keys - Kenya

Tucked away on an unspoilt island in the Indian Ocean, yet only 15 minutes flying time from Mombasa. The hotel’s unique appeal it its luxurious seclusion and beautiful natural scenery. Surrounded by water and superbly located on a west facing beach with glorious views of the African sunset, this remote and exclusive hideaway is the perfect place to escape from the outside world in style. The accommodation consists of 8 seaview cottages and 9 deluxe beachfront cottages.

Each of the individually designed rooms has a hand carved king size four poster bed and is imaginatively furnished with local wooden artefacts and colourful fabrics. The deluxe beachfront cottages also have a jacuzzi. The airy cottages have been thoughtfully provided with fans, safes, cool-boxes, fresh coffee and tea, plus complimentary beach accessories. In front of each cottage is a secluded area ideal for sunbathing and relaxing in privacy.

The essence of Funzi is the total informality with no dress code or fixed meal times. Guests can choose when and where to eat – maybe in the upper level restaurant overlooking the water, a lazy lunch on the pool deck, or a romantic candle-lit dinner on the beach. Life at The Funzi Keys is relaxed and many guests do little more than unwind by the spectacular free-form pool, or treat themselves to a pampering massage. But for the more energetic guests the hotel offers a wide variety of water sports and activities. In addition, the hotel is an excellent base for deep-sea fishing in the Pemba Channel, and scuba diving and snorkelling in the Kisite Marine Park.
