Leopard Lodge - Zambia

This small family run luxurious lodge on the banks of the Kafue River is totally secluded and distant from any other lodges, making it a private and un-commercialised wildlife experience.
It is not uncommon to have elephants wandering through the camp or lions and leopards catching their prey in the lodge grounds.

The Kafue River is home to large pods of hippos and it is the source of life for the area, drawing animals to its banks. Game viewing by boat is therefore spectacular and enjoying a drink as the sunsets is a tranquil experience.

Fishing is excellent and it has become a lodge tradition for fisherman to attempt to catch all 5 different bream species as well as Pike, is similar to tiger fish, but smaller in size.

With a maximum of only 12 guests the focus is on personal service, flexibility and giving guests the opportunity to enjoy the diverse range of activities available, which includes game viewing from an open safari vehicle, on foot,  by boat or by canoe; visiting a natural hot spring, fishing, or simply enjoying a sundowner at a view point above the lodge offering stunning views over the National Park.
Guests could also however remain in camp and see what animals pop-in.

Chalets are private, being individually sited, and all have river views. The African-Colonial décor is complimented by 100% percale cotton linen and Rhodesian Teak furniture, with beds that have been quoted as “the most comfortable in Africa”. Ceiling fans keep the rooms cool in the heat and nets keep mosquitoes off.

Breakfasts and lunches are enjoyed on the deck which extends over the river, whilst dinner is served around a fire. In the unusual case where weather calls for inside dining our restaurant is obliging which also portrays the African-Colonial theme of the lodge.

As the most remote lodge inside South Luangwa National Park, Lion Camp offers abundant and uncongested game viewing in one of Africa's great wildlife sanctuaries. Cooksons Wildebeest & Eland are also seen regularly later in the season.

Independently owned and operated, Lion Camp is located 40km upstream from the main Mfuwe gate, on the banks of an oxbow lagoon or “wafwa” which retains a small amount of water all year. The lodge looks out onto open grassland, which by day the plain is frequented by grazing mammals and by night it becomes a hunting ground for Lions. Lion Camp is a unique and stylish lodge distinguished by its team of friendly staff, personalised service, excellent food and an experienced and knowledgeable guiding team.
