Pilli Pipa Dhow Safari - Kenya
If you fancy a change of scenery instead of lazing on the beach, the
Pilli Pipa Dhow Safari may be just the experience you need. See what
Kisite Marine Park has to offer. Situated towards the southern end of
Kenya’s coastal strip, Kisite’s extensive reef system is home to
dolphins, turtles, over 350 species of vibrantly coloured tropical fish
and an exciting variety of coral life. No doubt you have heard all about
the well publicised dolphins that have inhabited the area in and around
the Kisite Marine Park for as long as local people can remember.
Almost everybody visiting the park will see dolphins but what about the other interesting creatures that contribute to the eco-system there? Lately, divers and snorkellers have been observing an unprecedented number of whale sharks between 6 to 8 metres in length. Humpback Whales are also spotted between July and September: unforgettable experiences! Nudibranchia, (sea slugs), are given little importance by the average snorkeller or diver.
They have various shades of purple, red, blue, green and yellow, a warning to predators that they are noxious or even toxic; their colour also helps them hide themselves by use of camouflage. Chemical warfare is the weapon of choice for many; some secrete acids which produce a sensation found to be distasteful by fish. Others secrete toxins so powerful that a nudibranch placed in a bucket with fish or crabs will kill them in about an hour! They are also hermaphroditic – that is having both male and female reproductive organs present in adult specimens.
A day spent on the Pill Pipa Dhow excursion, whether diving or snorkelling, will be a day that comes alive with new experiences. Our crew are very knowledgeable about marine life and trained to assist weak swimmers. We have buoyancy jackets for less confident swimmers, silicone masks for better fit and prescription lens ranging from -3 to -7 available on request. We have twin-valve snorkels with comfit mouthpieces for easier snorkelling. Facilities on the dhow include inboard W.C., depth finder, sun cover, tea, coffee, fruit and snacks. We limit numbers for added safety and more individual service.
Even non-swimmers have had a go snorkelling with us! The day is rounded off with one of the most sumptuous seafood meals you could ever imagine served in our garden on Wasini Island by smiling Swahili ladies. Wine, beer and soft drinks are included. Some days you will meet Selina, our resident marine biologist. Sail back to Shimoni Jetty where you may visit the famous Shimoni Cave, an interesting part of Kenya’s history. Then it’s back to your hotel in the late afternoon.

People-to-People Safaris - Tanzania
Co-Founded in 2004 by Lekoko Ole Sululu, a Maasai elder from
Ngorongoro, and Dr. Tanya Pergola, a Western-trained Social
Psychologist, People-to-People Safaris combine a traditional African
wildlife safari with unique cultural and community experiences that
share ancient wisdom traditions in remarkable ways.
Our life-changing safaris in Tanzania weave awe-inspiring wildlife experiences into profound educational tours or personal mind-body healing journeys.
Educational tours take you on a journey of enlightenment into cultural, socio-political, economic and environmental arenas. Visitors can choose to participate in short service learning opportunities that take to heart the concept of “travel as the best education in life”.
Our Healing Safaris have been created to help address modern-day health and wellness concerns while journeying through the stunning landscapes of Tanzania. A type of “mobile-safari-spa”, your daily schedule includes Maasai yoga class, meditation, instruction on healthy eating and mind-body wellness techniques; all while honouring the rhythms of nature in the African bush in stylish accommodation that sweetly ignites your soul. Joining a Healing Safari includes follow-up when you return to your home country to assist you in integrating newfound mind-body wisdom into your daily lifestyle.
People-to-People Safaris helps to support Terrawatu, a charitable, non-governmental organization founded in 2001 that creates sincerely successful sustainable development projects rooted in communities around Tanzania. [www.terrawatu.org] Journeying with People-to-People Safaris provides you with one of the most exotic and holistic experiences you can have in Africa.

Original Travel - United Kingdom
Original Travel was launched in early 2003 and is an award-winning
travel company, arranging unforgettable experiences and tailor-made
holidays to destinations world-wide. We use our personal insights and
experiences to hand-craft trips into unique and memorable holidays.
We have over 150 years of high end travel experience within the team, and specialise in honeymoons, family trips, private properties, experience-filled adventures, safaris, luxury exclusive travel and short breaks. In early 2009 we acquired luxury long-haul travel experts, Tim Best Travel, specialists in Africa, Latin America, the Indian Ocean, Australia and India. Tim Best Travel was founded in 1994 and like Original Travel was born out of a passion for travel. In Africa, we focus on small, exclusive lodges, hotels and camps, many of which are off the beaten track where a range of activities and superb guiding are all on offer.
The team have all been brought up or lived and worked in many of the countries in which they specialise and invest much of their time revisiting old haunts and exploring new and exciting places and bringing a wealth of knowledge, experience and personal service to their clients. Original Travel is committed to eco-friendly outfitters and companies who are concerned for the wildlife, the environment and feel a responsibility both to their local communities and areas in which they operate. In early 2012 Original Travel also acquired bespoke desert and cultural tour operator Simoon Travel.
Simoon Travel began in 2004 and was the first UK travel company to specialise in Libya. The portfolio of desert and cultural destinations has since grown significantly and together we believe we consolidate our established position as high-end Middle Eastern and North African travel experts. Finally, we launched a new diving division in conjunction with the luxury coffee table book Dive in Style (first print run 50,000 in 6 languages). Now rebranded as Original Diving, our portfolio of luxurious dive destinations includes many in Africa.

Onsea House is awarded the best place to stay in Arusha * and recommended by several experts** as boutique hotel and hip hideaway in the Arusha/Kilimanjaro region. The adjacent self contained Guest Cottage, each room with private wooden balconies, can easily accommodate 6 people. The beautiful main building houses also 3 double honeymoon suites with luxury bathroom with both bathtub and walk in shower. All 9 new rooms offer top class amenities and a private balcony and have amazing views on sunset (= machweo in Swahili) and Mount Meru.
Since the 1st of October 2011, the new restaurant offers more space and privacy and a separate entrance and parking for outside guests. Dining, lunch and breakfast areas are both inside and outside and away from the guest rooms. Next to the renown daily chef’s recommendations, there is a limited à la carte menu to fit every desire. Taste the freshly made brasserie dishes accompanied by the finest specially selected wines. Their Michelin experienced Belgian chef prepares a fusion of exquisite European and African delights based on seasonal specialties. Just call or email to book a table for brunch, lunch, evening with friends or that special candlelight dinner occasion.

Meru; thé place to relax and rejuvenate before or after a Tanzanian safari and/or a Kilimanjaro climb. Discover this idyllic setting for spectacular sundowners and a truly African rural feel only 7 minutes drive from Arusha town centre and 30 minutes from Kilimanjaro International Airport.

Ol Malo - Kenya
Situated on the northern edge of the Laikipia plateau, Ol Malo is
nestled into a rugged escarpment looking out across the time-honoured
lands of Kenya’s Northern Frontier District. Built, owned and managed by
the Francombe family, with the help of the Samburu people, Ol Malo has
established a reputation for first class service and tireless attention
to detail. Rocky and Colin have been welcoming guests into their home
for over 16 years.
Their son Andrew has joined them at the helm and is proving to be particularly popular with families as his sense of adventure and endless energy makes every guest’s experience unique. Every room in the intimate four bedroom lodge and beautiful 6 bedroom house is individually decorated, blending traditional local style with luxurious hand woven furnishings and thoughtful touches – a home away from home. Each spacious room has an ensuite bathroom and cascading shower, an oversize hot tub and private verandah There is no shortage of activities available at Ol Malo and each visit is tailor made to fit every guest.
The surrounding plains and valleys are teaming with game and provide regular sightings of wild dog and the elusive leopard is seen daily from the hide by the water hole. At Ol Malo, guests are encouraged to experience Kenya beyond the game viewing vehicle; walking and watching herds of elephant, riding with the rare grevy zebra and reticulated giraffe or trekking through the ancient Samburu lands with camels. Fly-camping on the shores of the river, listening to the Francombe’s stories of Kenya’s bygone age is an experience not to be missed.

Okavango Horse Safaris - Botswana
Founded by PJ and Barney Bestelink in 1986, this was the first riding
Safaris Company in Southern Africa. The focus is a journey through the
diverse landscape of the Okavango Delta and understanding of the
ecosystem in this truly incomparable area. In offering a riding safari
with OHS you are guaranteed a pristine wilderness with unique
landscapes.
The concept of riding this area is very special, as horses wade through the shallow waters, swim through rivers, placing guests in areas unspoilt by human footprint. On horseback the experience of approaching wildlife and exploring the Delta places the rider at one with nature. The interaction between wildlife and horses is a natural relationship and every encounter is unique. Cantering through the floodwaters alongside the elephant motion of a giraffe is an experience that will never be forgotten.
Our specialised team of horses are classed within the industry as the best safari horses in the world, care is taken to match horse and rider, with top quality tack, excellent standard of guiding, personal attention and high standards of accommodation. We use 3 camps, Kujwana, luxury en-suite tents raised on teak deckings under fabulous natural canopy, Mokolwane, 2 metre high treehouses along the edge of the Matsibe River and Qwaapo Camp overlooking a beautiful hippo lagoon.
The remote camps are accessed by helicopter, based in private concession areas of over 2500 sq. kilometres. Apart of the main attraction of exploring on horses, guests will also experience the delta from mokoro, on foot and game drives with night drives. We take a maximum of 8 guests on 5, 7 or 10 night safari options and non-riders can be accommodated. This company is committed to responsible tourism, staff development and the protection of the Okavango Delta.
